In A Course in Miracles, there’s an idea that healing is the result of a decision for love, regardless of the form it takes. Once you’ve decided to be OK at a fundamental level, whatever you specifically need to make it happen—a pill, medical treatment, tai chi, visualization—will show up in the world. This is a really nice way of stepping outside of the debate over Eastern or Western approaches to medicine and psychological versus biological questions on healing. They’re all equally illusory in the ACiM view, and because of that, they’re all equally valid. So there’s no need to feel shame about whatever treatment you seek, for whatever ailment, whether it’s an antidepressant for your mood or craniosacral therapy for your cancer. The best guidance, from this perspective, is whether or not your choice will increase fear or love.
